Our Community

The electorate of Elder is located in the inner southern suburbs of Adelaide, including the suburbs of Clarence Park, Clarence Gardens, Cumberland Park, Westbourne Park, Melrose Park, Daw Park, Colonel Light Gardens, Mitchell Park, Clovelly Park, St Marys, Pasadena, Panorama, Tonsley and portions of Ascot Park and Edwardstown.

With your encouragement, and the support of my colleagues and friends in the Malinauskas Labor Government, here is an overview of everything we have delivered for our community since being elected.

  1. Upgraded the Clarence Park Railway Station - including a new accessible ramp, pedestrian safety gates, resurfaced platform and a mural with artwork from local children.

  2. Remained committed to not undertaking any projects that would lead to Cross Road becoming a freight corridor and secured funding towards the Greater Adelaide Freight Bypass.

  3. Restored the Adelaide High School zone for Clarence Park residents that were removed by the previous Marshall Liberal Government.

  4. Built new learning and admin spaces, a playground and toilets at Westbourne Park Primary School.

  5. Fixed drainage and sealed the carpark at AA Bailey Reserve to get cars off local streets.

  6. Renewed greenspace, upgraded footpaths, installed traffic calming measures and additional parking at the Alawoona Reserves.

  7. Introduced 40km/h school zone speed limits on Cross Road near Cabra Dominican College and Goodwood Road near Westbourne Park Primary School.

  8. Upgraded the shelter, lighting and seating, and resurfaced the platform at Woodlands Park Railway Station.

  9. Secured funding to upgrade the Edwardstown Primary School crossing to a pedestrian actuated crossing.

  10. Opened the new Edwardstown Ambulance Station at the Repat.

  11. Secured funding to upgrade the intersection of Edward Street, Raglan Avenue and South Road, including building a new link road to remove the dog-leg and install a dedicated right hand turning lane from Edward Street.

  12. Built new classrooms at Edwardstown Primary School

  13. Built a new fully fenced playground, BBQ area and picnic facilities at Rozelle Reserve.

  14. Replaced the sprinkler system, upgraded clubroom lighting, installed new solar panels and a new bar fridge at the Colonel Light Gardens Bowling Club.

  15. Resurfaced the courts at Colonel Light West Tennis Club.

  16. Funded the Clovelly Park 24/7 Pharmacy.

  17. Invested $1 million in upgrades to CC Hood Reserve - including a new playground, small dog park, basketball court, junior pump track, BBQ and soccer goals.

  18. Successfully ran a community campaign to save the Cumbria Court greenspace in Mitchell Park.

  19. Funded crucial electrical re-wiring work at the Colonel Light Gardens RSL.

  20. Installed a heritage arch at Ludgate Circus to match the existing arch on Oxford Circus.

  21. Provided funding for ongoing upgrades to the Reade Park Lawn Tennis Club.

  22. Changed the Goodwood Road Bus Zone in Daw Park to end at 9am to allow more parking at local small businesses.

  23. Opened a new 26-bed Geriatric Evaluation and Management Unit and 6-bed SA Health Urgent Care Hub at the Repat.

  24. Upgraded lighting at Mortlock Oval with more upgrades on the way, including women’s change rooms.

  25. Built a new footpath connecting Kirra Avenue and Furner Avenue near the Mitchell Park Railway Station.

  26. Provided funding for MarionLIFE to secure land for a new community hub.

  27. Installed a new walkway behind Hamilton Secondary to reconnect Mitchell Park.

  28. Refurbished the admin building and completed vital electrical work at Clovelly Park Primary School to ensure students and staff have functioning air conditioning.

  29. Installed a new playground and electronic scoreboard, and upgraded a range of Kenilworth Football Club facilities at St Marys Park.

  30. Contributed significant funding to rebuild the old Sea Scouts Hall to create the new Pasadena Community Centre.

  31. Completed the Springbank Road Traffic and Access Study which led to the installation of a new push button pedestrian crossing.

  32. Installed air conditioning and solar panels at the Springbank Sports Centre.

  33. Built a public toilet at Maldon Avenue Reserve.

  34. Installed a drinking fountain and opened public toilets on weekends at the Tonsley Innovation Precinct.

  35. Secured funding for an upgrade to Caulfield and Winston Avenues following a successful community campaign.

  36. Established new link roads connecting Seglar Avenue and York Avenue, and Norrie Avenue and English Avenue, to improve local connectivity during the South Road upgrade.

  37. Opened Tonsley Technical College.
