Reducing Congestion and Making our Roads Safer
The Malinauskas Labor Government is building a safer and better connected Adelaide by delivering record investments in roads, rail and public transport. Since coming to government we have made public transport free for seniors around the clock and reduced student 30-day MetroCARD passes to just $10!
Main construction on the Torrens to Darlington Project - the largest and most complex infrastructure project in our state’s history - is now underway. Once complete, the non-stop South Road will allow motorists to bypass 21 sets of traffic lights between the River Torrens and Darlington, saving up to 40 minutes of travel time in peak hour traffic.
This is an enormous project for our state, and for our local community, with South Road splitting the electorate of Elder, and the southern precinct - the launch location of two of the three tunnel boring machines for the project - is located in Clovelly Park. Even prior to my election, I have consistently advocated for this project to also benefit our community by reducing rat running and congestion on our local roads.
Our electorate is also home to a number of other important state-maintained roads which I have been a steadfast advocate for improving in the interest of our local community.
